Counselling & Support Services
Counselling services are available for students, parents and staff. The College Counsellor is available for students to discuss any issues of concern. Some examples of possible concerns include:
- Learning, behavioural or physical difficulties
- Issues with family or friends
- Grief and loss
- Bullying
- Stress management
- Career decisions
- Suicide etc
The College Counsellor is also able to provide support and referrals to those staff and parents who need it.
Who is counselling for?
Any student, staff and parent at Mountain View Adventist College (MVAC).
When is it available?
Fridays. See College chaplain JP, or the College office for the counsellors current office location. If you need to speak with someone when the Counsellor is not available then check with the College office.
How do you make an appointment?
Either see Ray Southon (College Counsellor) or JP in person or leave a note at their office.
Why see the School Counsellor?
To talk about anything worrying you.
A few examples of things you might need to talk about are:
- Problems with family and friends
- Managing stress
- Bullying
- Anger
- Death and grief
- Suicide etc.
For Careers advice - Detailed careers’ testing is available for students in Years 10 to 12.
Confidentiality
Everything told to the School Counsellor is confidential. So anything you talk about in counselling will not be told to anyone else unless the Counsellor feels you are in danger or may be planning to put someone else in danger.
